Equipment
Alternative Angels British School of Colon Hydrotherapy pride themselves in being the only clinic/school that enables you to see both open and closed equipment available on the market today. See below for more detailed information.
Gravity fed system
Consist of a 22 litre water bottle that is heated via a shower type system and the water is released via a tap. The waste goes away via a tube similar the closed system.
Open System
What is known as an "open" system is one in which the client inserts a narrow thin nozzle into the rectum approximately 3-6 inches.
The client / patient lies on a large fiberglass system built to accommodate the entire body with the legs upward. With some of the open systems the client has little ability to control either the water temperature, or pressure.
As the person has an urge, the content will release as one would do during a normal bowel movement. Water generally flows away (as will the faecal matter) into an appropriate sized opening beneath the client’s bottom, allowing the client to push and defecate at will. This nozzle is only an outlet of water; it does not carry the waste out as in the closed system.
Closed System
What is known as an "closed" system is one is which the client / patient is lying on a cushioned table, with warm filtered water entering in through what is called a speculum. This is inserted about 2 inches into the rectum, which allows water to enter slowly, controlled by the therapist. At the base of the speculum there is a waste tube that allows all of the water and waste to evacuate the colon through the speculum without any effort on the part of the client.

This process of evacuation is done through the bodies own peristaltic action, massaging techniques of the therapist as well as the effect of the water introduced continuously during the treatment. The equipment lets the therapist control water temperature, rate and pressure at all times. There are no open tubes of water or waste. This system type discharges the faeces and water into a mains sewer connection. |
